Altec Lansing 1540a for sale on eBay

Hi guys, not sure if you can help me but what the heck, eh?! A friend of mine, a collector from way back, has a pair of Altec Lansing 1540A speakers, I think from an old movie theatre, just put up for sale on eBay. I think he said he had put them on for US$199. Someone has asked him to add a Buy It Now price, and he asked my advice as to whether he should let the auction go to its end or put up a Buy It Now.

If any of you have an opinion as to what he should do, and what his Buy It Now price should be, please let me know. Would like to help him, even if I know nothing about speakers!

What the heck is a 1540a speaker?

Sorry, they are amplifiers....like I say, lack of knowledge on my part, just trying to help a friend....I can't post a link cos I haven't made 3 or more posts, but if you go to eBay, it is listing 260507664966

This makes no sense....... if you don't know the differance between a speaker and an amplifier, and he is the collector, how are you possibly going to be of any help?

It doesn't need to be this hard....the friend does know all about speakers, amplifiers, etc, he just doesn't know what this one is worth, and was just asking my advice about whether or not to post a Buy It Now price, and what it should be. I thought I'd ask a forum for advice on price....if you don't know, don't worry about it, and don't worry about my part in it, I'm just trying to help a friend.

Your advice should be if he already started the auction to let it run it's course some folks get upset when people end auctions early for someone trying to circumvent the auction process,especially if a few people have already bid on it.He will get a true value at the end of the auction of it's worth.It is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it today.It could sell for a couple hundred today and five hundred tomorrow eBay is funny that way.

Not even amplifiers.

A line amp is a very specific device. very little value to most people.

If somebody made an offer he should probably take it. I would.

In all honesty this is the kind of stuff I would post in the "free to a good home" section.

Someone wants the Peerless line output transformers they are worth about $250 each to the right person , let the auction run its course .

You are right that now there's a bid, just let it run.

I can't imagine 2 line transformers being worth $250 though. But we can agree they just have parts value.
